3D Printing Builds

License Agreement

Version 1 · Effective October 13, 2026

Thanks for using our designs! This License Agreement explains exactly what you’re allowed to do with the files you download from 3D Printing Builds, in plain language, so you can create (and sell) with confidence.

Effective date: 6/26/2026

Version: 2.1

The most important thing to remember:

When you download a design, you’re buying a license to use it, not the design itself.

You’re allowed to print our designs. You’re not allowed to share, resell, or give away the digital files. Think of it like buying a book: the story is yours to enjoy, but you can’t photocopy it and hand out copies.

This document is the complete and final word on licensing for 3D Printing Builds. If anything elsewhere seems to describe license rules differently, this document controls. (Other topics — payments, refunds, privacy, and how disputes are handled — live in our Terms of Service, Refund Policy, and Privacy Policy.)

The One Rule That Never Changes

No matter which license you have, the digital files themselves stay with you and only you. Under every license, you may not:

  • Share, send, gift, or post the digital files (STL, 3MF, or any format).
  • Sell or redistribute the files.
  • Upload them to file-sharing sites, marketplaces, Discord servers, or forums.
  • Claim a design as your own work, even if you’ve changed it.

Why this rule exists: Selling digital designs is how we keep making them. One shared file can be copied endlessly, so protecting the files protects the whole community of creators who rely on us, and the value of the license you paid for.

Everything below is about what you can do with the physical prints you make. The files always stay private to your account.

Which License Do I Have?

You’ll have one of four licenses depending on what you bought:

License — Who It’s For — How You Get It

Personal — Makers printing for themselves. — Applies by default when you download files.

Standard Commercial — Hobby sellers, home-based shops, small creators. — Included with an active commercial membership.

Extended Commercial — Mid-size print farms. — Available when you operate 11–50 printers.

Enterprise / Mass Manufacturing — Industrial production or any molding/casting. — A separate agreement you arrange with us.

Personal License

This is the default license for everyone who downloads our files. It’s perfect for makers printing for the love of it.

You May

  • Print our designs for yourself, your home, and your family.
  • Print a design as a gift for someone (as long as you’re not selling it).
  • Make reasonable modifications for your own prints (see Modifying Designs).

You May Not

  • Sell anything you print under this license.
  • Share, upload, or pass along the digital files.

Common Questions

Can I print this for myself?
Yes — that’s exactly what the Personal License is for.

Can I print one as a gift?
Yes, as long as you’re giving it, not selling it.

Can I share the STL with a friend?
No. Send them a link to the design instead so they can download their own license.

Can I sell prints later?
Not under the Personal License — you’d need a Commercial License first.

Commercial Licenses

Commercial Licenses let you sell the physical prints you make from our designs. There are three tiers, based on how much you’re producing. Pick the one that matches your printer count, and upgrade as you grow.

What Every Commercial License Lets You Do

  • Sell unlimited physical prints of the designs you download while your license is active.
  • Sell through any channel — your own website, Etsy and other marketplaces, craft fairs, in person, and internationally.
  • Set your own prices.
  • Use our product photos and descriptions in your listings to save you time.

What No Commercial License Allows

  • Selling, sharing, or distributing the digital files.
  • Claiming a design as your own.
  • Mass-manufacturing through molds, casting, injection molding, or CNC (that’s Enterprise territory — see below).

Standard Commercial License

For hobbyists, home-based sellers, and small creators.

  • Printers: Up to 10 active 3D printers.
  • Everything in “What Every Commercial License Lets You Do” above.

Extended Commercial License

For growing, mid-size print farms.

  • Printers: 11–50 active 3D printers.
  • Same selling rights as the Standard Commercial License, at a larger scale.

Enterprise / Mass Manufacturing License

For industrial-scale production, more than 50 active printers, or any non-3D-printing manufacturing method including molds, casting, injection molding, CNC, or factory production.

This requires a separate Enterprise or royalty-based agreement so we can set fair terms for high-volume or industrial use.

To start that conversation, email support@3dprintingbuilds.com with the subject line “Enterprise Licensing.”

Common Questions

Which tier do I need?
Count your active printers: up to 10 → Standard; 11–50 → Extended; 50+ or any molding/casting → Enterprise.

What happens if I upgrade my Commercial License?
Your new tier’s higher limits apply right away, and your existing prints and sales continue uninterrupted — upgrading only expands what you’re allowed to do.

Can my employees print?
Yes — your license covers production by your business on your licensed printers, within your tier’s printer limit.

Can I run a print farm?
Yes, up to 50 printers under the Extended Commercial License. Beyond that, you’re in Enterprise territory.

Can I sell on Etsy and my own website?
Yes — any sales channel is fine, including international sales.

Do I have to credit 3D Printing Builds?
No — attribution isn’t required. A mention or tag is always appreciated and helps other makers find us, but it’s completely optional.

Modifying Designs

You’re welcome to tailor our designs to your needs.

You may resize, scale, combine, add supports, or make reasonable customizations to a design. If you hold a Commercial License, you may also modify a design before producing the physical products you sell.

Even After You’ve Modified a Design

  • The modified digital file is still covered by this License.
  • You may not share or redistribute the modified file.
  • You may not claim the design as your own.
  • Ownership of the original design always stays with 3D Printing Builds.

Who Owns What

We keep ownership of every design and the digital files. Your license gives you permission to use them within the limits described here — it doesn’t give you the copyright or any ownership of the design.

Some of our designs are original works that are thematically inspired by popular genres or styles. They’re not official or licensed products of any studio, brand, or rights holder. If you sell prints, you’re responsible for making sure your sales follow the copyright and trademark laws that apply to you. (Our full intellectual-property notice is in the Terms of Service.)

When a License Ends

Your Personal License continues for the files you’ve downloaded, as long as you follow this agreement.

Your Commercial License is active while your commercial membership or license is active. If it ends — because you cancel or because the license is terminated for breaking these rules — you may no longer download new files or begin new commercial production. However, physical inventory you already produced while your license was active may continue to be sold. To make new products for sale again, simply reactivate your Commercial License.

We may end a license if these rules are broken — most importantly, if the digital files are shared or redistributed. (Account suspension and termination generally are covered in the Terms of Service.)

Growing Past Your Tier

Good news — it means business is good. If your printer count grows past your current tier, simply move up:

When Your Business Grows… — You’ll Need…

More than 10 active printers. — Extended Commercial License

More than 50 active printers or adding molding, casting, or CNC manufacturing. — Enterprise License

You can move up at any time — upgrade your membership or contact us, and your new tier’s limits apply right away.

Questions

We’d genuinely rather answer a question than have you guess. For anything about licensing — including which tier fits you or enterprise/royalty arrangements — email us at support@3dprintingbuilds.com.

This License Agreement is part of, and governed by, our Terms of Service (including its governing-law and dispute-resolution terms). Where this document covers licensing, it controls.
